From Marsh Harbour, Elbow Cay is a short 15 minute journey across the beautiful Sea of Abaco by ferry (The Ferry at The Crossing) or rental/charter boat.
If arriving on Elbow Cay by rental/charter boat you can go directly to Tahiti Sunset’s private dock in front of the house and meet Rabanette, our caretaker there.
If arriving by scheduled ferry service you will be met by Rabanette at one of the public docks in Hopetown (Post Office Dock or Hopetown Harbour Lodge Dock) and guests and bags will be taken to the house.
Private Charter: Stafford Patterson aka “Captain Plug” is also available for private boat charter from Marsh Harbour to Tahiti Sunset dock for a reasonable rate. He can be contacted by phone on 242-366-0023 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org and further information can be found on his website www.captplug.com
If you arrive in daylight and wish to take your rental boat to Elbow Cay from Marsh Harbour, this can be arranged through one of several boat rental companies. Please see listings under separate section on Getting Around.
The joy of Hope Town and Elbow Cay is that there are very few cars on the Island and these are used by locals for business. There are no cars to rent and golf carts are the best way to explore the island and get around. Bicycles can also be rented and are a fun way to get about in the cooler months. Renting a boat to explore the neighbouring cays and uninhabited islands is a great way to spend part or all of your holiday. The Albury 23 is our preferred boat, locally made and great for the shallow waters of the Sea of Abaco.
You should rent your golf cart and boat well ahead as they book up very quickly.
Tahiti Sunset can accommodate boats up to 30’ in length in the 2 private dock slips in front of the house.

We cannot recommend more highly a trip with Stafford Patterson of Captain Plugs Adventures. Stafford is an 8th generation Bahamian and runs a variety of itineraries either on his own boat or your rental. He will help to familiarise you around the Sea of Abaco if it is new to you, or take you to spots you may never have known existed. He is also extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area. Contact him via www.captplug.com
